Today our extended family started the day off in the pool. I probably got a bit too much sun, but the water was refreshing and the weather was beautiful. My three year old niece loved being tossed back and forth between Samantha and I, squealing with delight in much the same way Aziza did when we played that game with her. Puddle jumpers, beach balls and water guns ensured that everyone was kept busy at the pool.
Today was also the perfect weather for heading out on a wave runner and reaching super fast speeds out on the open ocean. I am a nut when it comes to wave runners and have been fortunate enough to have spent lots of time riding them in the past. I only had one occasion today of a near- capsized machine due to crazy handling ... okay maybe there were two occasions. It was breathtaking to have dolphins swimming just 15 feet away from us alongside our watercraft. We saw groups of dolphins multiple times and it made our day pretty special.
We later headed out on a bike ride with three generations of our family. Cycling is the top method of transportation on this area of the island. Early in the ride we had a gator sighting just about 25 feet from the bike path. We paused only a short while to take in that sight. The rest of the ride was less eventful, and much to Samantha's delight the bikes are all beach cruisers. This is what she wants for her birthday next week ... A retro beach cruiser. Something tells me that after all she's been through the past eight months she will get just what she wants as a gift this year.
Our early evening beach walk had us collecting shells and enjoying the low tide and all the treasures it left behind on the beach. My heart was warmed with numerous sighting of tiny white feathers ... my little sign from my little angel. There were also lots of shells to be collected. As a team we rescued a stranded starfish and got it safely back into the ocean.
Now to end our day we are off to a concert in the harbour!
