No child's baptismal date should be the same as their date of death. For various reasons, Aziza had not yet been baptized when she fell ill in December. On December 5th, as she lay fighting a losing battle in the intensive care unit, she was finally baptized. There was no air of celebration and throughout it all the nurses and doctors continued to work frantically on our sweet Aziza. Although I lost all track of time that day, I believe that her heart stopped less than an hour after she was baptized by the hospital Priest. They restarted her heart once before it stopped forever about 30 minutes later. As awful as it was to watch Aziza being baptized in such an environment, I am glad that we had the opportunity to do this. The hospital was very supportive and helpful with this request.
